Enamelled Wires and Their Characteristics
1. Polyester Enamelled Wire (P.E.W.)
This wire uses heat-resistant Terephthalic Polyester Resin as the primary material for its insulating enamel coating.
Characteristics:
Superior Heat Resistance: Better than Polyvinyl Formal (P.V.F.) and Polyurethane (U.E.W.) enamelled wires.
Excellent Solvent and Chemical Resistance: Except for alkaline substances.
Strong Mechanical Properties: Comparable to P.V.F. enamelled wires.
High Dielectric Constant: On par with U.E.W. enamelled wires.
Enhanced Alkali and Moisture Resistance: Superior to P.V.F. enamelled wires.
2. Polyurethane Enamelled Wire (U.E.W.)
Made using Polyurethane Resin, this enamel is unique for its ability to dissolve quickly above 300°C, enabling soldering without prior insulation removal.
Characteristics:
Exceptional Heat Resistance: Outperforms P.V.F. wires, classified as E-grade.
Efficient Soldering: Eliminates the need for peeling insulation, boosting productivity.
Comparable Mechanical Strength: Matches that of P.V.F. enamelled wires.
Limited Solvent Resistance: Slightly less resistant to alcohol-based solvents but remains practical for most applications.
3. Polyvinyl Formal Enamelled Wire (P.V.F.)
One of the earliest developed synthetic enamelled wires, it employs Polyvinyl Formal Resin as its base material, with added hardening resins.
Characteristics:
Strong Insulation: Provides outstanding thermal resistance and durability.
Excellent Solvent and Chemical Resistance: Comparable to P.E.W., except for alkalis.
Good Mechanical Strength: Similar to other synthetic enamelled wires.
High Dielectric and Inductive Performance: Comparable to U.E.W. wires.
Enhanced Moisture and Alkali Resistance: Reliable for various environmental conditions.
