Oil-immersed test transformers, as the name suggests, use insulating oil internally for insulating arc extinguishing. It has many advantages such as low cost, fast voltage boost, strong withstand voltage, convenient and cheap maintenance, etc. If it is accidentally damaged during use, it can be dismantled. It is carried out by replacing the copper core or the insulating oil, so the purchase and use costs are relatively low. However, because the insulating oil is installed inside, the equipment is relatively heavy, which is not conducive to moving to outdoor use, and there are also oil stains, etc. shortcoming.
The inflatable test transformer uses SF6 gas internally for insulation and arc extinguishing. Because it is inflated, it has the advantages of small size, light weight, clean and free of oil stains, etc. However, if the internal gas escapes, it will be very difficult to repair and must be returned to the factory. It is troublesome to handle and use, and the cost of the equipment is relatively high, causing the price to naturally rise.
The dry-type test transformer is made of an internal iron core and epoxy casting technology. It is formed in one piece without inflating and does not require insulating oil. It is low cost and cheap, but it is large in size and heavy in weight. At the same time, because it is cast in one piece, if it is internally damaged , it is almost impossible to repair, and the user needs to be extra careful during use, so generally small projects prefer to use this equipment.
