Description
12/24/36kV 630A Connecting Plug - Type C Epoxy Separable Interface Plug
The 630A Type C connecting plug is the mating half of a CENELEC separable interface: molded from high-quality insulating epoxy, it completes a screened, fully insulated connection between a separable connector and the interface it plugs into. One part covers 12 kV, 24 kV and 36 kV classes, it meets the requirements of IEC 60137, and its interface follows EN 50180 and EN 50181 - so it is interchangeable with other manufacturers' products that meet the same standards.

What the Connecting Plug Does
A separable connection needs two finished surfaces: a plug and a seat. This connecting plug provides the plug side - an epoxy body that slides into the Type C 630A interface and restores the insulation and screen across the joined interface. It is the part that makes a separable system truly separable: the joint can be broken and re-made, with the plug re-used, instead of re-terminated.
Design
Interface - Type C, 630 A, as described by CENELEC EN 50180 and EN 50181.
Insulation - an epoxy compound with excellent electrical, thermal and mechanical properties, and environmentally stable.
Screen - provides a convenient point to connect a drain wire to ensure grounding of the connector shield, or to connect a potential indicator or fault indicator.

Production tests (in accordance with IEC 60502-4 and IEC 60137):
| Parameter | 12 kV | 24 kV | 36 kV |
|---|---|---|---|
| Partial-discharge minimum extinction voltage | 15 kV | 20 kV | 45 kV |
| AC 60 Hz for 5 min (kV crest) | 39 kV | 54 kV | 117 kV |
Mechanical Property
Minimum cantilever withstand load: 500 N - the plug withstands a side load of at least 500 N without failure, the relevant mechanical qualification for a plug that is inserted and withdrawn.

Applications
1. Cable branch cabinets and switchgear interfaces
The plug completes the Type C 630A interface inside European-type cable branch cabinets and similar switchgear, where a separable connection is made and re-made during commissioning or maintenance.
2. Companion to separable tee connectors
Used together with the T-body / T cable connector family: the tee connector makes the cable joint and the connecting plug completes the interface side of the same separable system.
3. Cabinets with fault or potential indication
Because the screen provides a connection point, the plug suits cabinets that use a fault indicator or potential indicator on the separable interface.
4. Interface standardisation across a fleet
Its interchangeability with other compliant products lets builders standardise on one interface while sourcing the plug from more than one qualified source - reducing single-source risk.
Why Choose This Connecting Plug
Type C 630A interface - CENELEC EN 50180 / EN 50181.
One part, three voltage classes - 12 kV / 24 kV / 36 kV coverage.
Interchangeable - with other manufacturers' products meeting the same standards.
Epoxy insulation - excellent electrical, thermal and mechanical properties, environmentally stable.
Screen connection point - for shield grounding, potential indication or fault indication.
500 N cantilever withstand.
Tested - IEC 60502-4 and IEC 60137.
Specification Notes for Engineers
Confirm the interface is CENELEC Type C, 630 A.
Select the voltage class - 12 kV, 24 kV or 36 kV (one part code covers all three).
Decide on the screen function - drain-wire grounding, potential indication or fault indication.
Check the mating part - a compatible Type C interface or apparatus bushing insert.
State the order code, e.g. EN 12/24/36-630 DCPE.

FAQ
Q1. What is a connecting plug?
A connecting plug is the epoxy plug that completes the CENELEC Type C 630A separable interface, restoring insulation and screen across the joined interface. It is the mating half of a separable connection.
Q2. Is it interchangeable (Type C 630A connecting plug interchangeable)?
Yes. Its interface follows EN 50180 and EN 50181 and meets IEC 60137, so it is interchangeable with other manufacturers' products that meet the same standards.
Q3. Does it work with a separable tee connector?
Yes - it is the interface-side companion to the T-body / T cable connector family.
Q4. What voltages does it cover (36kV connecting plug)?
One part covers 12 kV, 24 kV and 36 kV classes, with a 40.5 kV maximum phase-to-phase rating at the 36 kV tier.
Q5. What standard is it tested to (IEC 60502-4 connecting plug)?
Production tests follow IEC 60502-4 and IEC 60137.
Q6. Can the screen be used for fault indication?
Yes - the screen provides a convenient connection point for a drain wire (shield grounding) or a potential indicator or fault indicator.
Q7. What is the mechanical rating?
Minimum cantilever withstand load 500 N.
Q8. What's in the box?
The connecting plug and an installation instruction sheet.
