Rigid Mica Sheet Applications

Rigid mica sheets are commonly selected for electrical and thermal insulation in high-temperature equipment. They are frequently used for:

Resistance wire supports in appliances such as toasters, hair dryers, and other heating devices.

Insulation components in closed heating assemblies, including band heaters, electric irons, presses, kettles, kitchen appliances, and extrusion machine heaters.

Heat-resistant partitions in circuit breakers and other electrical systems to isolate components exposed to elevated temperatures.

These rigid mica sheets are made with at least 90% pure mica, bonded with minimal resin (≤10%), giving them consistent density from 1.7 to 2.35 g/cm³ across all grades. All values below follow common IEC/ISO test standards.

1. Heat Resistance

Muscovite grades (CD563M / CD563MG): Continuous use at up to 500°C, withstanding short spikes up to 800°C. Weight loss stays ≤1.0% at 500°C and ≤2.0% at 700°C.

Phlogopite grades (CD563P / CD563PG): Better heat tolerance overall-continuous use up to 600°C, short-term peaks up to 1000°C. Same low weight loss as muscovite: ≤1.0% at 500°C, ≤2.0% at 700°C.

2. Mechanical Strength

CD563M: Flexural strength ≥200 N/mm²; tensile strength 140–150 N/mm²

CD563MG (enhanced): Flexural strength ≥230 N/mm²; tensile strength 140–150 N/mm²

CD563P: Flexural strength ≥150 N/mm²; tensile strength 100–110 N/mm²

CD563PG (enhanced): Flexural strength ≥200 N/mm²; tensile strength 100–110 N/mm²

All grades resist moisture well, with water absorption ≤1.5% after 24 hours at 23°C.

3. Electrical Properties

Every grade delivers reliable insulation:

Dielectric strength: >20 kV/mm

Volume resistivity at 23°C: >10¹⁷ Ω·cm

Volume resistivity at 500°C: >10¹² Ω·cm
