Product Description
Heat Shrink Anti-Tracking Insulation Tube
Heat shrink anti-tracking insulation tube is a heavy-duty, cross-linked polyolefin sleeve engineered to insulate and protect medium-voltage cable terminations and busbars against accidental flashover. Applied over joints, terminations and conductors, it shrinks down to form a tight, void-free insulating layer with high tracking resistance - a critical requirement wherever surface contamination, moisture and high electric stress would otherwise lead to surface tracking and flashover.
Manufactured from radiation cross-linked polyolefin and supplied in signal red, the tube is rated for medium-voltage cable terminations up to 42 kV. The inner wall is coated with adhesive at one end, sealing the cut edge and locking out moisture once the tube is recovered.

Why anti-tracking performance matters
On a medium-voltage termination, the exposed surface between the conductor and earth is stressed by the full system voltage. Dust, salt, moisture and pollution form a conductive film; leakage current then dries the film into dry bands, and the resulting voltage concentration can carbonise the surface into a conductive "track" that runs to flashover.
An anti-tracking (tracking-resistant) tube interrupts this mechanism at the source: its cross-linked polyolefin compound resists carbonisation so that no continuous conductive path can form. The result is a termination that stays insulated through ageing, contamination and heat cycling - the reason this tubing is specified for outdoor terminations, switchgear and busbar systems.

Key features & benefits
High tracking resistance - resists surface carbonisation and dry-band tracking; tested to IEC 60587 (1A 3.5).
Cross-linked polyolefin construction - retains mechanical strength after heat ageing (130 °C × 168 h).
Adhesive-lined end - seals cut edges and blocks moisture ingress for a durable, void-free insulation.
Medium-voltage rated - suited to cable terminations up to 42 kV.
Excellent dielectric performance - dielectric strength ≥ 20 kV/mm; volume resistivity ≥ 1×10¹⁴ Ω·cm.
Wide thermal reliability - heat shock 160 °C / 4 h with no cracking; brittle temperature −40 °C.
Consistent low water absorption - ≤ 0.1 % (23 °C, 24 h), protecting performance in humid and outdoor service.
Controlled recovery - begins shrinking at 90 °C and fully recovers at 130 °C for predictable installation.

How to select the right size
Measure the substrate OD - the diameter of the cable core, lug or busbar to be covered.
Pick by recovered ID - the recovered inner diameter must be smaller than the substrate OD so the tube grips tightly. Example: a 15 mm busbar → choose WRSJG-40/15 (recovers to 15 mm).
Check as-supplied ID - the tube must slide over the largest part of the joint before shrinking.
Confirm wall thickness - thicker walls (3.0–3.5 mm) suit higher-voltage terminations; thinner walls (2.2–2.5 mm) suit compact joints.
Choose length - select from standard cut lengths 600–1200 mm, or order continuous rolls (25 m/roll for smaller specs, 15 m/roll for larger).
Not sure of the size? Send us the cable/busbar OD and voltage class - we will recommend the correct spec.

Installation guidance
Clean and degrease the substrate; remove all sharp edges and burrs.
Slide the tube over the joint, positioning the adhesive-coated end toward the cut edge to be sealed.
Apply heat evenly with a hot-air gun, starting at the 90 °C shrink-onset point.
Work along the tube until it is fully recovered at 130 °C - the surface should be smooth with the substrate contours visible.
Verify no voids or trapped air; allow to cool before energising.
FAQ
