Products Description
What Is a Motor Binding Cord?
A motor binding cord (also called a motor lacing cord) is a high-strength insulating cord used to tie and secure the internal components of an electric motor - the wound coils, stator and rotor assembly. After the windings are placed, the cord is laced around and across them to hold every conductor and coil end firmly in position through the motor's entire service life.
It is not a general-purpose string. A motor binding cord must stay strong and insulating while the motor runs hot, vibrates and, in modern designs, sits in cooling fluid. That is why binding cords are braided from high-tenacity polyester or aramid (Kevlar) yarn and rated to a defined thermal class.
We manufacture motor binding cords in Class F, Class H and Class C, with flame-retardant and oil-resistant options for the newest generation of electric-vehicle (EV) motors.

Material and Construction
| Element | Choice | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Base yarn | High-tenacity polyester (PET) or aramid (Kevlar-type) | Aramid delivers the highest tensile strength and the highest temperature ceiling; polyester offers excellent strength and value for Class F duty |
| Construction | Braided cord | Braiding distributes load across yarns so the cord resists abrasion and does not unravel when cut or tied |
| Finish options | Flame retardant; ATF-oil resistant; Freon resistant | Matched to the motor's cooling and operating environment |
Key performance properties:
High tensile strength - holds coil ends and conductors against vibration and electromagnetic force.
High temperature resistance - rated to the thermal class of the motor, not the ambient temperature.
Aging resistance - retains strength over years of thermal cycling.
Abrasion resistance - braided structure resists chafing against enamel wire and laminations.
Chemical resistance - options for refrigerants (Freon) and transmission/cooling oils (ATF).

Thermal Class and Application Range
Binding cord is selected by the thermal class of the motor, which follows the insulation system temperature rating. Our range covers the full span used across motor types.
| Application | Thermal class | Environment requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Power tools | Class F / Class H | High-speed, high-temperature duty - angle grinders, electric saws, cutting machines |
| Home appliances | Class F | Freon-resistant for compressors - refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines, dishwashers |
| Industrial motors & generators | Class F / Class H | High-voltage motors, transformers, large generators |
| New energy vehicles (EV / HEV) | Class H / Class C | Flame retardant, ATF-oil resistant - EV motors, HEV motors, 48 V motors |
For oil-cooled (oil-immersed) EV motors, a dedicated binding cord is available that resists ATF (automatic transmission fluid) and maintains its mechanical and insulation properties in continuous oil contact.

Power-tool motors
High-speed universal and brushless motors in angle grinders, saws and cutting machines, where the coil ends must be locked against severe vibration at Class F / H temperatures.
Home-appliance motors and compressors
Compressor and fan motors in refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines and dishwashers. A Freon-resistant grade prevents the cord from degrading in refrigerant environments.
Industrial motors, transformers and large generators
High-voltage motors and large rotating machines, where Class H aramid cord provides the mechanical security and thermal headroom required for long service life.
EV and HEV traction motors
The fastest-growing application. Traction motors run hot and cycle hard, so the cord is specified Class H or Class C, flame retardant and ATF-oil resistant, including for oil-cooled motors.
Why Our Motor Binding Cord?

Trusted across segments - cords are supplied to leading appliance, power-tool, industrial-motor and EV-motor makers worldwide.

Customization & Ordering
Binding cord is specified to the motor program. To quote, confirm:
Thermal class - Class F, H or C.
Base yarn - polyester or aramid.
Construction and size - cord diameter or width, ply, and braid construction.
Environment - flame retardant, ATF-oil resistant, and/or Freon resistant.
Mechanical requirement - required breaking strength and elongation.
Packaging - spool, bobbin or cut length, and quantity.
Because each order is built to the confirmed specification, construction, size and quantity are confirmed per order. Send your drawing or requirement and we will confirm feasibility, MOQ and lead time.
Quality
Yarn control - incoming yarn tested for tensile strength and thermal rating.
Braiding - braid density, cord diameter and uniformity monitored in line.
Final testing - breaking strength, elongation, thermal class verification, and flame-retardant / oil-resistance checks where specified.
Traceability - supplied against the confirmed specification and datasheet.
FAQ
Q: What is a motor binding cord made of?
A: High-tenacity polyester or aramid (Kevlar-type) yarn, braided into a cord. Aramid is chosen for the highest strength and temperature; polyester for Class F duty and value.
Q: What thermal classes are available?
A: Class F, Class H and Class C, matched to the motor's insulation system.
Q: Is there a cord for oil-cooled EV motors?
A: Yes - an ATF-oil-resistant grade is available for oil-cooled EV and HEV motors, alongside flame-retardant versions.
Q: Can the cord resist refrigerant?
A: Yes - a Freon-resistant grade is available for compressor and appliance motors.
Q: Do you supply both polyester and aramid cords?
A: Yes. The grade is selected against the required thermal class, strength and cost target.
Q: Can I get a custom size?
A: Yes - construction, diameter, strength and packaging are built to order.
